This is the very first Essie nail polish I purchased. I wanted a colour that was lovely and rich for winter but not too dark that made me look a bit gothic! I don’t really suit red colourings so I loved this wine colour that would go with so many different clothes. I have worn it twice now and would say that it was better the first time because I did 3 coats and this time I only put on two. I think to get a really opaque colour but also as chip resistant as possible you do need 3 coats. Which can be a bit of a pain because the second time around it took an age to dry. An hour after my top coat I managed to smudge my thumb and all I was doing was watching TV.
The brush on this bottle is also tiny compared to my other Essie polishes. I have no idea why, but it is almost half the size which can make application a bit more tricky. Like most Essie formulas this went on beautifully, wasn’t streaky and levelled out really well. Even before I put the top coat on (I currently use Sally Hansen Mega Shine) it was really shiny and looked lovely. Overall, a great colour for autumn and winter and a good investment.
