Now that school has gone back, I don’t have the luxury of time on my side in the mornings, so this post is all about how to achieve everyday 5 minute makeup! With three little ones, I generally have to be super organised and that includes organising and being really quick with my makeup. I can generally be upstairs for about 5-10 minutes before they all start coming to look for me.

Before I begin, I have already put on my moisturiser and if I feel I need it, some primer. Then I apply my foundation – I use a brush most days as I find it can be faster and I love the results. For summer, I generally tend to mix my foundation with my moisturiser so it is a bit lighter on the skin.

Then I apply a light peachy eye shadow shade all over my eyelid to even out the skin. I then add a similar colour, just in a slightly darker shade, all over the lid just to give a bit more depth. Following on from that I add a darker brown shade (I used Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 in Cover, but in the link for the Clinique palette you could easily use one of these darker shades) to the crease just to add some definition to the eye. I finish up with some mascara.

I then move on to a light bronzer powder, which I apply in a 3 motion, from my temples to my jaw, followed by some blush and highlighter. I finish off the look with a soft nude lipstick that will go with just about any makeup combination.

This makeup look is what I go to every day. The only thing I might change is the combination of eye shadows depending on what I am wearing. All other products are used everyday to create a look that makes me look human, even after having zero sleep! This is great for Mums because it gives you a great put together look with minimal effort – something we all like to aim for. Everyday makeup is possible in 5 minutes!

  1. Hi Ashley could you please tell me what brush you use for your foundation in the video and how do you keep it clean?

    Thanks

    • Hi Tania the brush in the video is the Tarte Buffer Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush (bit of a mouthful!). It took me a while to get used to it but I wouldn’t be without it. It makes putting on makeup so quick in the mornings and gives a beautiful finish. It is a bit expensive at $48 but the bristles are so soft and dense and the quality is amazing – I have been really happy. Here is a link for it as you can only purchase it at Sephora if you are in Australia. http://www.sephora.com.au/products/tarte-the-buffer-airbrush-finish-bamboo-foundation-brush. I clean the brush by wetting the head/bristles under some water and then I use a little bit of antibacterial foaming handwash to clean it and just massage it through the bristles. I then rinse it until the water runs clean without any foundation colour, pat it dry and then leave it to dry on a paper towel. Hope this helps 🙂 Thanks so much for watching. Ashley

    • Thank you so much Kat 🙂 I love natural/neutral colours – they are my favourites. In Spring/Summer I tend to mix the foundation and moisturiser together for a couple of reasons 1) I find that it is much lighter on the skin. Sometimes foundation in the warmer months can feel heavy and cakey on the skin. Which in turn can make it look like you are wearing a lot of makeup. 2) I find it reduces the amount of foundation I am using, this way getting a lot more value for money out of my foundation by making my own tinted moisturiser. Hope that helps 🙂
