Face maskIn review today is the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque. I absolutely love Dermalogica products so I have seen the Charcoal Rescue Masque on a lot of blogs and Instagram and have been really excited to try it. I haven’t used a masque in a really long time, it is just one of those things that hasn’t re-entered my beauty regime since having kids – well until now that is. I washed my face as normal and applied the masque. I did have some dullness and dry spots as I hadn’t exfoliated this week, I wanted to leave my skin for a bit to see if I could really see the difference. I applied the masque and straight away I could feel it getting warm on my skin, as though it had been activated, but it didn’t burn or sting. I wasn’t quite sure how thick the layer should be but I used the entire sachet face mask 2provided and put all over my face, avoiding my eye area as recommended. The masque did set hard and my face felt quite taut but not in a bad way. It was actually quite nice as combined with the heat I really felt it must be doing something. I left it on for the allotted time of 7 minutes and then I washed it off with a hot face cloth. The consistency seemed to change into more of a gentle exfoliator, as when washed it off with the face cloth, I could definitely feel the friction on my skin. My skin looked really radiant after use and one thing I really noticed was that my pores looked smaller, having had large pores all my life it is really nice to find a product that can help reduce this. My skin felt nice and firm but not dry or too tight and once I had moisturised as normal it was glowing. Overall, I really feel that this product lived up to the hype I had heard about and it is definitely something I will purchase. The only negative that I have is the smell, to me it initially smelt a bit of tea tree which I didn’t mind, but after a while developed into something else. It isn’t offensive, but I just disliked it.

If you are looking for a gentle mask to incorporate into your routine or to give a nice lift to your skin I don’t think you could go past this product.

You can purchase the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque from Soho Skincare. It retails for $65 but is currently on sale for $52.
